SERIAL 001 — THE LAUNCH pays tribute to the birth of modern Top Fuel drag racing—an era when horsepower outpaced technology, safety was still finding its footing, and drivers climbed into machines powered by controlled explosions wearing equipment that often looked more reassuring than protective.
Hidden behind a gas mask and surrounded by the unmistakable haze of nitromethane and tire smoke, these drivers accepted a level of risk that helped define drag racing's legendary reputation. Every pass down the quarter mile demanded absolute commitment. There were no electronic driver aids, no carbon fiber survival cells—only raw power, mechanical instinct, and the courage to keep the throttle open.
